Last Sunday I drove up to New Jersey to meet my friend [livejournal.com profile] lbilover at the Franklin Preserve State Park in the Pine Barrens. It was a long drive and totally worth it for her warm and comfortable company, along with the company of her sweet deerhound Gandy, the adventuresome Pippin, who I was very glad to get to see again, and the silky Clementine who joyed to show us the meaning of haste, and for the beauty of the pines. I sure miss living in an area well covered in evergreens, like there was in Carrboro, NC. Our hobbit dolls were also happy to see each other again. It was a gorgeous cool, sunny day, perfect for a 3 hour hike.

I tried to get a pic of [livejournal.com profile] lbilover with her whole pup family, but , being very busy pups, they were impatient with the whole process. Gandy here is blocking Clem and giggling about it, too.

And now Gandy has wandered off, but here's Pippin and Clementine.

Herding dogs is hard work.

I loved the blue sky reflected in the cranberry bogs.

I should have gotten some pics from the parts of our walk among the pines, but I was too busy enjoying myself, being in great company in a beautiful place. We had a tasty dinner at the Pic-A-Lilli Inn, in Shamong, NJ--a very hobbity little Pine Barrens Inn. It was an excellent little mini-moot. On the drive home I got to watch the crescent moon grow in size as it set on the horizon before me.

Herding dogs is hard work.

That's because you're supposed to let them do the herding!

I'm glad you had fun.

The dogs definitely like to keep moving on our hikes. They just didn't want to pose. But that's okay. The photos came out wonderfully anyway. :-) And thank you for making the long drive to the State with Too Many Unmarked Roads and joining for a hike! It was so much fun and great to catch up with all that's been going on with you. The day after we ate there, the Pic-A-Lilli was featured on a local news channel. It's fame spreads. *g*

Thanks again for your company in my favorite place in the world. *hugs*

Mini moots are wonderful! Great you has such a fine day and a chance to hang out together and that the dolls were there too. How did you find a way through the pools?

Great photos! I wish I lived somewhere with trails and paths where it was safe to walk. Right now there are too many coyotes for that. It sounds like a great moot.
