Sockpuppets Exclusive Report: Mayor Samwise Gamgee and Ringbearer Frodo Baggins recently fled to an "undisclosed location" to avoid retribution for giving away their children. Although they are back in Hobbiton now, many are still wondering where they had fled to. This question can now be answered. One of our photographers spotted them here in the far reaches of East Rhun. Here Gamgee is driving Baggins from the guest pagoda in which they were staying.

Re: Hello!
I do have more icon desires and I will take you up on your lovely offer--I'll be emailing you tomorrow, if not tonight then. (-:
And thank you for the lovely greeting! You seem neat too, besides being kind and friendly! An SCAer--cool! I miss SCA! It's been a few years since I've been to a Pennsic, but I went to several and the sites there are still of the fondest memories!
And yes, I do prefer the mac, even if learning to use OS X made me curse them! (-:
And currently I have a renewed obsession with LOTR, after a 17 year hiatus on it, and am currently obsessed with MESPT--a LOTR role playing game on LJ--which is why I'm being an insatiable slut for icons: to make my characters look all spiffy, besides finding Frodolijah beautiful to look at. (-; It's a riot!
Thanks for your posts!

Re: Hello!
Yeah, I have been out of the game for a couple years myself. Starting to get back in though. I have yet to make it out to a Pennsic. Maybe in a few more years. I'm in the West, and plan on going to the A & W war this year.

I am almost afraid to ask; new obsession? Where can I take a look at this, and can I be an Orc?!

Re: Hello!
Yeah. I used to role play in my teens and tweens, but lost interest with more fun things like SCA to take up the free time. But this Middle Earth Sock Puppet Theater (MESPT) has the zaniness I miss from my old game groups with the kind of real fun storytelling we never managed. It's played on LJ's. You set up an LJ for your character and have them make entries, then go comment in other people's LJ's and they comment in yours, and stories and relationships ensue.
I watched for about a month before I jumped in in May with the character I'm sending you this post from. I think people started playing back in Decemeber and its grown from there. An orc character would be great--I've just set up pages for a balrog and a cave troll that I haven't entered into the game yet. Trouble makers are always needed to roll the plots along. (-; I suggest that you start watching for a week or two before jumping in, though, just so you have a feel for it.
The LJ's I suggest you start with are Frodo's and Sam's because they are hilarious. Not all characters interact--there's like 300+--hobbits, Elves, Rohirrim, Gondorians, Dwarves, Valar, Dragons, pets, etc (mostly Tolkiens, but some original characters as well)--but a lot of them make their way to Bag End at some point. You can find Frodo at "frodooftheshire" and Sam at "samwisegamgee" and just scroll through some of their old entries and comments. They're a wonderfully dysfunctional F/S. Sam's mun(person who runs a puppet) is currently on vacation, so Sam hasn't had an entry for a few days. Frodo is currently doing time in prison in Mandos (Tolkien's land of the dead) for throwing a party when one of Sam's kids died. (-;
From their conversations you'll start seeing which other characters interest you and check out their LJ's. I also highly recommend Sauron's at "darklordsauron".
You could check out, if you want, my character here, Bingo (based on Tolkien's early draft version of Frodo--who was called Bingo), but keep in mind, he's very wordy, but I've had a ball with him. I had a lot of success at getting him involved in storylines from the get-go. And I have a couple other characters I play now as well, but he's still my main.
If you have any questions at all about MESPT, I'll do my best to answer, so please ask. Hope you like it!
