I never really cared about the oliphaunts in the book, but I felt like Sam when they showed them on screen. "Oliphaunts, Mr. Frodo!" That was so well done!
I've seen a couple people doing their best to reclaim Farry, but I think most of the fans are in agreement he was dissed. I bet it won't bother the people who haven't read the books though. I see how PJ's trying to use Faramir's prolonged threat as a plot device since they're pushing Shelob into RotK, but I still think it was PJ's worst call so far; it strips the character of what is most valuable about him--intuitive wisdom and empathy. They should have just had F and S chased by orcs or telemarketters or something, if they needed that.(-:
