It's unusually warm today for March--upper 70's. So when I took a walk around Greenbelt Lake on my lunch break, I expected I'd see these guys emerge:
But I didn't expect to see this adorable garter snake already in the season:
The snake was about a foot and a half long.
Pretty colors.
I saw several frogs all hanging out in the entry pond.
And several turtles on this log and a few other logs in the lake.
Canada geese hanging out with a pair of mallard ducks.
And pretty wood ducks.
Spring is on the way.
And I am very grateful to walk where I can see all this. Two years ago today I had to take my lunch walk in the city, and on that day, it didn't go so well, and I got smacked onto the pavement. I am so glad to not be working downtown now, and that 2 weekdays I can walk around my lake because I'm working those days from home.

I love wood ducks. We don't see them around here, so I appreciate your pic.
I'm glad you're in a better place in your life than you were a couple years ago. It's so good you are in a position to work from home a couple days a week. :))

I truly am in a better place--thank you, and I'm hoping I can start feeling it, like any day now! I'm still stuck with the extra anxiety from getting to this place--so I'm still looking for bears chasing me out of the corner of my eyes. I don't know how long it will take for me to relax and stop beating myself up. Here's hoping sooner than later.

The peepers were singing their little hearts out yesterday on my hike. Spring is definitely getting close.

love the Canada geese and the ducks :-)
It's now 5.15 a.m. here and the birds are already chirping :-) It's a wonderful concert and it will be louder by the next weeks.
