It's unusually warm today for March--upper 70's. So when I took a walk around Greenbelt Lake on my lunch break, I expected I'd see these guys emerge: But I didn't expect to see this adorable garter snake already in the season: The snake was about a foot and a half long. Pretty colors. I saw several frogs all hanging out in the entry pond. And several turtles on this log and a few other logs in the lake. Canada geese hanging out with a pair of mallard ducks. And pretty wood ducks. Spring is on the way. And I am very grateful to walk where I can see all this. Two years ago today I had to take my lunch walk in the city, and on that day, it didn't go so well, and I got smacked onto the pavement. I am so glad to not be working downtown now, and that 2 weekdays I can walk around my lake because I'm working those days from home.

I'm glad you can walk at all, but I'm especially glad you have somewhere so beautiful to be. Yesterday I was reading about how snakes locomote so your full length cap of the garter snake is my favourite image, but I still love the turtles best! Thank you for sharing. :-)
