OK, I'm going to update, dammit! I've been trying to update for like two weeks, but my sockpuppets keep distracting me. And the amount I update is not commensurate with how important ya'll on my f'list are to me in my daily life. Not that my update will be all that exciting.
I've been at my job a little over a month and am still delighted with it. Thus far, I've gotten to work on a Punjabi reader, a Cantonese dictionary, a Minnan dictionary, a Korean grammar, and now I'm working on a spoken Libyan Arabic reader. each project has been a little different, and with this last one I'm learning a new wp program and doing one of the works last edits. And the people here are so nice and laid back, so unlike any work and academic environment at UMD.
And I've got my life so in order right now, except for the one thing . . . getting back into my dissertation work . . . I'm just so frustrated with myself with how much start up energy it takes me to get back in the groove. I've given myself room for starting a new job, and the bad weather with the aches and pains that come with that--so it's time--I should be at least a week further along than I am. But I think the ice is starting to crack, so I seem to be readying to jump into the work on it again.
I'm thinking of starting a separate venting LJ for when wOE about the last several years of my life starts bugging me like last week, but right now I'm feeling more focused about how mostly good life is currently for me.

This is an interesting thread I want to jump in on Frodo's role in the films, since I do think the last two films kind of lost sight of Frodo's character, and Sam's as well. I want to get back to revising my hobbit paper and sending it out, but first I got to get back into my 17th C stuff. OK--off to my nightcap of sockpuppets. wheee!(-:
