I feel most touched by that other monarch coming out to join her. It didn't just matter to Maybe!Verid to be free, but it mattered to that other monarch.
Monarchs are social, not just for mating for the September brood, but in forming groups to travel together south where they may gather in tens of thousands or millions in the high mountain tops of a limited area in mid to southern Mexico in oyamel fir trees, until they start flying north again in the spring.
Her travel companion was glad to see her free.
