OK Hobbit posse! So who is up for a Maryland Moot in Westminster this fall/winter?

I'm going to propose 3 weekends, Friday thru Sunday. Please state which ones work for you, which is best, etc.

October 5-7 Columbus Day weekend--foliage will be beginning to turn

November 9-11 Veterans Day weekend--foliage will probably be just a little post-peak, but good

December 14-16 The Hobbit, Part 1 premieres

Feel free to link this post, or reprint this post in your journal since there are hobbit fans who are not on my flist, but might want to come, and please report back in the comments here with findings. If there is interest, I'll make us a community promptly. <3

I'd definitely be interested. I could probably do any of the three weekends, although November would be best.

I am replying both places for some odd reason. Again, I'd like to come but it will depend on what weekend you select and if certain things here get resolved. I've never been to Maryland but it's drive-able from here so that's good at least.

It is indeed. I have friends who go there now and again and while it is a long drive, it's not too difficult and I do like to drive. lol

I'm glad you've thrown this out here!

I, alas, cannot commit to anything just yet. This fall is so busy for me, I can't yet get my footing, and I spent a crapton of money on travel this summer that I really shouldn't have. But I'm going to see what others are doing and be keeping my eye on things, and who knows...I'd love to see you all again!!

it looks like we should drop the October. Maybe pushing it back to November or December will make it more doable for you?

I truly wish I could, but I won't be taking any more trips this year.

Well, as I live here, I'll be around all those times. :) Might be busy the October weekend, though; it's right before the big neurogeek conference at which I will be presenting a poster whose topic is still uncertain. :-\

That's adding to my thinking that we ought to drop October anyway because it's too close now.

I might make December, am unlikely tro make others, would say more but a kid is hanging off me.

Eeeeeeeee!!!!! That's exciting! I can't wait to meet you! *glomps* Even if people decide to moot in November, and November doesn't work for you, I still plan to join [livejournal.com profile] mews1945 in Westminster to see The Hobbit, so there will be a mini-moot no matter what then.

Yay!!!! And as we discussed before, I plan to join you in Westminster for The Hobbit release no matter what weekend we moot.(-:

The Hobbit!!!!

I don't know if I can afford to attend the NYC premiere but I'm going to try and that could tie in with a Maryland Moot! Or at least I can dream for now.

You are lovely to make a Moot post - there should be more Mooting in this world.

Is there a date on when it's being released in NYC yet? It's coming out around here on Dec 14th. it would be sooo lovely if you could come!

For me Nov is the best time, I wouldn't be able to do it so close to Christmas. I'll reprint this in my LJ as well.

I think we're deciding between November and December now on the next post, as there are people who can only make December. Would you be able to at least join us to see a viewing of the film on Friday night or Saturday at least if it turned out to be December?

From: [identity profile] romeny.livejournal.com

Dec is out for me but if it's in Dec, maybe I could drive over for the day. My kids want the movie to be a family fun nite event and my son's been planning this for ages.

PS I made a little [livejournal.com profile] hobbitmoot comm a while's back. I know this is not all about the Hobbit but if you do choose The Hobbit weekend, please do link up your comm with that one and we'll promote it with the round the world prems! I am just about to update that one with a 'who's on board, where' type post :-)

From: [identity profile] lavendertook.livejournal.com

I forgot about that--yes, I'll get this linked up there.

I'm not that far from Maryland but I've never managed to get there. I don't know if I could make it or not as I have some things up in the air at the moment, but let me know which weekend you chose and where. I'd love to see you again if possible.

From: [identity profile] lavendertook.livejournal.com

Well, if you could let us know which work for you and which don't of the 3, that would help. I would love to see you again!

I can definitely do December 14/15 for the movie, but it's a little too soon for me spend any extended time away from my little hobbitling :P

From: [identity profile] lavendertook.livejournal.com

Except for the movie, is hobbitling not ready to come moot and be adored by the hobbit posse? I'm sure you'd be able to take him to someone's room to nap, and feed, and change nappies, if the sitting area is too noisy. Or do you expect you'll still be too worn out with following his scheduleor that the drive to Westminster is too long to take him on?
