Stray cat update: they are using the shelter! I saw Ostra disappear into it on Friday, so they are learning the joys of fleece. This pleases me. I guess they are alternating between the Kitty smial and the sewer for hang-outs now, and I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason I've seen them going into the sewer and then the smial last week is because they've decided they can let me.

And Saki update--I started her on her thyroid pills this weekend, and she is doing fine thus far. I put the pill in a little ball of cheese spread, so she scarfs that baby right up.

I had 2 fun outings last week: I went to a sex toy party for my bi women's group in DC Thursday night (like a Tupperware party but with sex toys and lotions) and saw some fun new stuff on the market. I like this particular group--it's much more diverse than the bi women's group I used to attend several years ago--so I'll be going to more of their events. I did a hike with them back in November that was fun. Then Friday night I went to a new Amish market in Laurel and got some yummy Lancaster milk, cheese, breads, cookies, and the best soft pretzel eva.

I had a sinus headache this weekend from the lousy weather. But I did write my first piece of RPS yesterday, which I'm very happy to have been inspired to do now in light of the current fandom argument going on around here. (-: I'll have to post it here later. And I'll save more of the State of the Lavendertook update for another post.

Here's the last of the set of pics from the day of sunlight on snow the other week.

Actually, I think the relationship between Amish cheese and sex toys is socially constructed, so stop imposing your essentialist notions on me!!!!

Your pics are always a delight to see luv. Where exactly does your group hike? Amish markets are fantastic, expensive but the food is usually wonderful.

Thank you! *hugs* It was a one time hike, though they said they would organize more in the spring, and it was at Little Bennet Park in Clarksburg, MD, just north of Gaithersburg. Yeah, the milk I bought was orange flavored, like a creamsicle--so yummy.

I actually don't do the mustarding of pretzels practiced in our Native Land--I never got into it--I'm a bad Philadelphian area grrl. I like tasting the salt and the dough, and in this case, buttered dough.

Aw, kitty luvs cheese. You're lucky; our cats don't like anything but cat food and sometimes tuna juice. We'd need to shove 'em in! And yay for smex toyz, lol...

Purdy trees, too. :)

Well, this morning, she was a little hesitant, and then ate the cheese and spit out the little piece of pill in the middle, that wily one. I was prepared for this challenge and pulled out the lox spread, and that one went down. I'm going to have to keep a variety of camoflauge foods on hand. But that's good your cats stick to cat food. Moo, also, only likes her dry food, though is beginning to develop a taste for lox. Yay for toys--one woman was cute and said, there's the item I want for the life I wish I had, and then the best one for the life I'm actually living. (-:

Yay for stray kitties using the shelter, pilling a cat without stress, sex toy parties, Amish markets, soft pretzels RPS and sunshine!

Boo on headaches!

That's what I say!!! Hmmm, soft pretzel RPS . . . it could work . . . :-D

I'm glad to hear the kitties are using their shelter.

And such a variety of outings! Sounds like fun!

Ostra's timing in letting me know was impeccable, because I thought they weren't using it and was planning to go out this weekend and move it to a different spot closer to the sewer. The spot it's in will be better when the leaves come back out.

Yeah, it was a busy week--no wonder I crashed this weekend, but it was good.

Yay for the cats using the shelter and Saki doing well, and for your two fun outings! And double yay for you writing your first RPS!! :D:D:D

Such gorgeous photos, too! Thank you!

Thank you, hon! :-D And happy writing anniversary, again! I hope you've gotten over the sad feeling.

You are going to have to make a calender with the four seasons represented from your area! I'd buy one! :)

And yay for the cats using the shelter! :)

I've thought a lot about making calendars--maybe I should. (-:

I'm so glad they've taken to it as a soft alternative to the sewer--I can't give them a heater, but at least I can give them dry cushions to sleep on. I sat with them a while yesterday and we did lots of blinky eyes. Brigit totally looks like a big fluffy stuffed toy--kind of like a very fluffy Saki--they would look so hilarious together. *scritches to Helo*

Oooh, I love cheese!!! :))))))))

I've never been to a sex toy party and fear I'd be too embarrassed to go to one. Although if it was with my flist I think it would be fun! :)

Those trees are lovely! Yay for the cats using the shelter!

I'm descended form dairy product making folk, so loving dairy is in me bones. (-:

Knowing a lot of the women there will be feeling shy, too, makes it easier to go. And knowing the women who are putting on a show of being cool, are probably not all feeling so cool also helps. And the presenter's job is to make it fun and comfortable in hopes you'll buy their products. I'm just shy in big groups, period, not particularly about sex talk.

It makes me feel good to see the kitties using the shelter as their base instead of the sewer and know they've at least got cushions to sleep on now--every cat in the world should have their own cushions. *scritches to Eddy and Esme*

Ooooh!! I'm descended from a long line of blacksmiths - does that mean I have to like metal???? :P

Seriously though, it's probably a good experience. When I was in London with a few LJers we went into a kind of sex shop for women where they had all kinds of interesting stuff and it was lovely to see what they had there and not frightening or terrible at all.

*Edward and Esme purr*

. . . Y-you don't like metal? O_o (-;

It is an important activity to come up with good innovative devices and chemicals for.

Kitties!!!! (-:
