Here's a patchwork quilt of bright colors in the narrowing light of twilight, sans sparkle vampires 'cause this be hobbit country, a well garlicked place.

The palette has really narrowed now to the red zone as the sun sinks to the horizon. And again, the camera here is picking up more light than my eye at this point.

A note on my process with all these lake pics: I haven't saturated the colors on any of these, or played with the palette, and that includes tomorrows sunset pics. I've sharpened all the pics in iphoto, darkened or lightened the exposure and contrast a little bit on most, narrowed some with black, blurred, or white faded borders, and the only ones I cropped are some of the duck, geese, and turtle pics.

Tomorrow, with the ending year, I'll post the last pics the setting sun allowed from this walk around the lake, a couple of hours stretched now into a couple of months.

The screen here at work is making them look brighter than they were, so you might be getting extra blaze there, but it was colorful. (-:

Wow!

(Have you seen The Colour of Magic? The picture imp is going to run out of red, see?)

I haven't--I started the book and didn't like it after 50 pages and put it down. )-:

Twoflower's iconograph works by means of the "picture imp" a tiny man who lives inside the camera and quickly paints the scene. In the book, he runs out of pink after they visit a brothel!

He's definitely gotten over zealous, then, with his red palette in the last 2 pics.(-:

Lav, you should enter some of these in that photo contest they have here on LJ.

Thank you! Maybe one somewhere else--I haven't liked helping promote LJ's owners since Brad sold it.

The gray blue of the lake in the background between the patches of flame foliage in the first pic get that whole Impressionist complementary color scheme going. The others look like they're picking up some infrared spectrum. (-:
