There's a dollhouse miniatures show this Sunday afternoon in Tyson's Corner I'm going to, and if any of my local flistmates are interested in joining me, lemme know.

I discovered this wonderful little subculture a couple of years ago when I was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] obeliamedusa's wonderful Bag End replica to start putting together my own, and just looking at all the teeny tiny crafted items in the dealer's room is like beach combing through little art works. My hobbit action dollies are hoping I'll be bringing them more embossed books, foods, and furnishings. If any of ya'll nonlocals are hunting for some specific miniature item, lemme know.

Last Sunday, I drove out to Rehobeth Beach and Delaware Seashore State Park and did a little photo shoot of my Sideshow Bingo doll, so for my hobbit and action dollie fans, this will be coming to an entry near you in the future. The state park was gorgeous and empty, and the beach combing was particularly rich with tiny gastropod shells I don't normally see up here, so I may head back on Saturday or Monday--if anyone wants to join me, give a hollar.

The unifying theme word of this post is "tiny."

I LOVE dollhouses and doll furniture! I always wanted one of the big ones, but never had a place to put it. Still don't...I could have a dollhouse, but a cat would live in it :)

Several years ago, Mom and I went to New York during the Christmas season, and went into a dollhouse store. They had a HUGE one, three stories and almost as high as my hip, all decorated for Christmas. It had a 'Sold' sign, and I'm sure somebody had a great Christmas!

The dollhouse show sounds like a lot of fun. I just adore all those tiny little things.

Contemporary dollhouses are fun to glance at for me, but my enthusiasm really goes for historical recreation--the older the better--and fantasy doll habitations. Mini living history museums. (-;

I've been to 3 dollhouse stores around here--2 were in the process of closing down--but very cool to rummage through. But I've been to one dollhouse show up in NJ when I was visiting my folks, and it's hugeness, variety, and sheer craftiness was really wonderful--you must get to one! They must hold one in the Triangle area sometime.

You could put your house in a glass or plexiglass box, or you could set up rooms in curio cabinets--setting up full room displays is just as much fun as setting up a whole dollhouse. (-: Just me, being a bad influence again.

They are wonderful--and it's just spectacular that regular-sized dollhouse stuff is action figure sized! It must be some wonderful convergence of planetary influences, or fate that made for that happy confluence. :-P

So is there any item in particular for which your Merry and Pippin have been yearning that I could keep an eye open for? I enjoy having hunting goals.

I think Merry and Pippin are set at the moment, but thank you very much for thinking of us. :)

Have fun and let us know what goodies you find!
