"May?" We MAY criticize you? You damn well got that right, you mealy-mouthed fuckers. Yeah, LJstaff's really pissed me off this time, and it's migration time.
I've heard nothing but good things about Squeaky's handling of IJ, and with 100 icons for an unpaid account, their welcoming of fandom, and no bullshit, I can put up with the ads there and the stupid asylum theme.
strangemuses says IJ took to the influx of thousands of GJ refugees without a hitch, so they're definitely doing something right thus far.
The only thing keeping me on LJ now is ya'll. The more of you I can woo over to IJ with me over time, the better. I guess I'll be double posting for the foreseeable future, but I'd love to move my main base over there now. Got to dig up my bookmarks for migrating tools and get my IJ running. Yay 100 icons again!
I just hate generating revenue for folks who do business like LJ is doing, and yes, we are generating revenue for them, even with basic accounts, by creating community. Even this post is helping them with that. I'd just like to see IJ overtake them. And if not Insanejournal, than another text-based networking site catering to epistolatory-types, but right now, IJ looks like the best bet.

Yeah. As if the sign-in doesn't freeze up my computer at home anyway, with the ads that are animated. And my poor old, small, slow computer did not possess enough system resources for any of the adblocking programs.

Yeah, I just installed an adblock program and it does take up a lot of space. *pets your poor computer*

But yeah, mileage varies on how you feel about seeing ads, and I just got an adblock program that does much to solve that problem for me, but I hate doing business with people who try to sneak stuff past me and treat me without respect, and this has been an ongoing problem since 6A took over LJ and has continued with SUP, which is why I'm looking at IJ as a better community service.

But, I have a permanent account, and the amount of years I have had it has not crossed the 6 year threshhold yet that would make it the same price as a paid account. So alas, I am here for a while.

Understood. You might want to think about opening up an IJ just as a back up account for the time being--it's good to have your journal backed up somewhere else. There are tools for copying all your journal entries to another account. I used that for copying to GJ until it tanked. I'm going to copy this journal and some of my rp sockpuppet accounts this week to IJ and then double post between communities for the time being. But any communities I set up will be on IJ now.
