Today is my dad's 80th birthday. He died a year ago yesterday. I'll never stop being angry about how our medical system failed him, and thinking he should by rights be alive today, but it did snow today, and snow is about setting things aside and celebrating the beauty.
It rarely snows this early around here, so I celebrated Dad's birthday walking around the lake in the snow, and it was gorgeous. I took pics of holly berries and geese, both covered with snow, and will eventually get some of those processed to show you. And it's the second night of Chanukah, so I've lit a couple candles for celebrating him as well. Here's a pic out my sun room window this afternoon:

Candles, myriad sleeping kitties, home made pizza bagels, broccoli with pesto raviolis, rose tea, new laundered sheets, books, endless projects, a working macbook, and warmth* are things of goodness.
Happy Chanukah, if you celebrate it, and be warm and comfy regardless.
*which is the summation of all those things, come to think of it-- the macbook by itself having been nicknamed by folks on apple boards as "The Oven," for many of them tend to run hot like this one.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm friending you, if that's OK? And I do want to continue our discussion from the earlier thread--do you want to? If so, should I reply over here with your comment embedded and continue on here, or take it to email?

Thanks for friending me, however I don't LJ. It was a hideout when our boards got hacked by those who shall remain nameless (don't want search engines to pick up the phrases). I don't blog any more, but just comment in a few places. Obviously less now. :(
Currently in northern hemisphere, 4 degrees centigrade here, or was earlier tonight. No snow, rarely snow. Snow pretty, makes the cold worthwhile. I too am hiding out with the cats when possible.
Must do the sleep thing now, big long day tomorrow, and the day after.

If you want to sometime, though, feel free to come back. What is the board you are on?
I eventually need to do a post on the practical, material end of the issue: the MWF, women only space that is not trans-inclusive and why it's needed and OK, and women only space that is trans-inclusive, different definitions under the trans umbrella, and where to draw lines that aren't horribly classist.
But maybe for starters I ought to do a post on the simpler subject of how the term "Holocaust card" is an entry on the bigotry bingo board, because I'm seeing some very ignorant things being said, and people who should be getting this, aren't.
And yes, I agree on snow. You know, it's a well kept secret that what was on the bottom of Pandora's box was actually a purring cat.(-;
Good luck with your long days!

I think that it would be very helpful if you and
Because as long as either of you keep acting merely as commenters on
(The MM/TS dynamic is from the essay "Power and Helplessness in the Women's Movement", by Joanna Russ.)
For one thing, any arguments that you have with other commenters put her in the middle, and force her to act as arbiter. You cannot ban people from her LiveJournal, you cannot control the discussion, and this will make you resentful towards her, if she cannot or will not do what you ask, no matter who may be right in any given argument.
Nor can other people see your side of the discussion if you leave after an argument.
