Here's some coverage of BoldThrough"07 thus far. You can find links to the artworks that got one of the LJ users banned. It depicts Snape and Harry having very vanilla sex and the Harry figure looks anywhere from 16-25--very ambiguously a minor.
It's occurred to me that this is exactly the age range that is considered the only way that women are supposed to appear in public today in western societies I am familar with. It is not considered at all deviant for adult men to desire females appearing to be 15-18; in fact, it is mandatorily normative. Exemplary depictions of women in the media are almost exclusively in this ambiguous age range.
Would a depiction of a female figure in place of the Harry figure really be bannable on LJ? Are we dealing with sexism here because this is a picture subjecting males to a female gaze, let alone male homosexuality? Are questions of pedophilia being used to cover misogyny and homophobia being used to police women here?
