Thank you to everyone who sent condolences and well wishes. I appreciate it so much. I'll try to reply to everyone when I can.
I'm doing all right. I drove back to Maryland last night and am home with my kitties. My mom and brother are also doing well under the circumstances--we've had 7 hard weeks to get used to what we're dealing with now, and the sadness is coated with relief that my dad's ordeal is over.
My mom and brother brought home Dad's ashes today in a little black box, as he had wanted--it's on the mantelpiece with his Marine hat on top. (-: He would like that, and there's comfort in that.
