. . . on the macro, and, we hope, on the micro. Things are much better than when I posted last week--my dad's bleeding problems haven't come back since Saturday. My dad is still in the ICU, but he's been stable and on the up and up since Saturday morning, when he had GI bleeding and his blood pressure dropped like crazy. When I last saw him Sunday morning, he looked much stronger and alert than he had since the operation. His endoscopies and colonoscopies have come back clear. His breathing has been strong enough that they don't think they'll need to do a temporary tracheotomy anymore.

This morning they took out his breathing tube and he has been holding his own since. Even he had to nod yesterday when my mom said to him, "You know you're getting better," so his spirits are better than what I told you about in the locked post and we've all rallied. When my mom and brother went to see him this evening, he was already aware that Rumsfeld had been canned and seemed to be watching a TV some about the elections--so this election has been good for the health. So a frabjous day.(-:

There could be another set back we have to be ready for, but if we're lucky, we'll be getting dad out of the ICU soon. Mom had a health scare last week, but we're pretty sure it's from stress--and she went to the doctor, so good to see her making moves to take care of herself again.

It took a couple of days, but the methylprednisolone made all my hives go away, plus I think it gave me a little bit of a high, which was useful for getting through last week. My foot has been unhappy since I took it for a test walk around the lake on Friday, so I'll be going to PT for a bit longer. I like my phys therapist, so that's fine. I'm taking care of myself emotionally by making my stays up in NJ shorter.

I've gotten an email and a call from people interested in the strays, but still waiting to hear back. Tuxie has become such a huggy little thing; I just pick him up and curl him under my chin, and he just stays there purring raucously.

And for fun, I went, oxymoronically, to a huge miniatures show for an hour when I was up in NJ--it was being held at a hotel really near my folk's house. All the gorgeous, pain-staking, tiny crafts--it's just wonderful to look at them, and I only got a chance to see less than a third of the tables. I did get me an action-figure sized embossed copy of The Silmarillion and a set of tiny embossed gardening books.

I voted absentee ballot since election officials in MD suggested it due to our lack of paper trail. I hope the Repug candidates here who hired homeless out of towners to tell voters they were Dem's go to jail. But Yay for the elections!!--Yay S. Dakotans!!--excepting for the many Americans still hating on me queer self.

And I'm almost caught up on the HP books--they've been such great stress relief through my dad's crisis.
