My deepest sympathies to my UK peeps on what seems to be going down with elections. I share your fears. Why so many awful people would rather go down with their ships than share them on both sides of the Atlantic--I dunno. I just don't know. Rest. Then fight some more and play when you can, because that's what we do no matter how many things they break.

I've spent much of the afternoon just shaking my head at the UK election. I simply can't believe there are so many stupid people in this world. They're going to have a hard time getting out of the mess Boris is helping unleash. Looks like Putin's plans to fracture our democracies are working. 🙀

They want to believe that people with darker skins are the source of all their problems, rather than the white rich bastards stealing the shirts off their backs and pushing them off the cliffs because it's more comfortable for them to believe that it's darker skinned people who are pushing them in the cold wind. If they can make all the evils be about skin color than they can safely aim their rage with reckless abandon, rather than really looking at people with the same skin color as them and consider it's more complicated and they'll have to think more deeply. It keeps the world orderly for them, the lizard brain happy, and the cerebral cortex free of new synapses forming. It's more about simple enjoyment of hating the Other than stupidity. It's not that they CAN'T think--it's that they don't WANT to spend time thinking more complexly when they're happy with their shared worldview and the way it strengthens their bonds with the people they know. Nothing like having an Outsider to hate to make your group bonds feel strong and yourself bolstered by being part of a larger organism. Putin doesn't have to do much but give a little push and step away.

This was eloquently written truth. Sadly. :( I did smile at a few bumper stickers I've seen lately that said, "Make racism wrong again!" Doesn't look like the world is heading in that direction, though. Fucking scary times.
