For [livejournal.com profile] lbilover. This is a terrible pic--he don't got no head--but he is indeed a scarlet tanager and I'll be surprised if I ever get a better pic because they flit fast, but I got this view today:

This scarlet tanager boy was high up in a tree by the path around Greenbelt Lake. I think I saw the tanager girl nearby--olive with a light chest. And the most gorgeous bright tangerine oriole flit by about 4 feet in front of me. We were all very happy for sunny cool weather. It was a gorgeous day to take off from work.

I wonder if he's the same boy I've seen twice the past week out my window, a little less than a mile from this spot, or if we've got a bunch of them hanging out in the area now.

Oh, he's gorgeous! I've yet to see one for myself, but now I have hopes. :D Thank you! What a brilliant spot of color on a gray morning here. *hugs*

It would be awesome if we got some sun next Saturday and saw one, but chances are so iffy with this weather.

Oh! I've never seen a Scarlet Tanager, nor an oriole (yet.) I have grape jelly in my feeder, which the mockingbird loves, but I hope an oriole will discover it someday soon.

Orioles and tanagers spend a lot of time on the top canopies, so it might be hard to get them in a ground feeder, though I have seen the orioles swoop down, so here's hoping.

I'm glad! I've never seen blue bird, though they are around here. One day.

Thank you! My best friend at work used to be involved with cat shows and her husband is still very involved--he travels most weekends to shows around the country and occasionally out of the country. They raise Egyptian maus--beautiful little silver spotted cats. She may appreciate the article.
