I would think that 6 members of the House of Representatives requesting that the Government Accountability Office undertake an investigation of the "voting irregularities" with the 2004 Presidential election would be newsworthy, but hey, that's just me. Still, you know, after all the shenanigans with the 2000 election and all the fraudulent problems before this last election (Sproul & Assoc. destroying Dem ballots, distribution of misinformation telling Dem's to vote on Nov 3, the continuing problem of voting while black and voter intimidation, etc), it wouldn't be like out in left field or anything to want to check out the accuracy of and problems with last week's votes, right?
If you agree, take a look at this petition from MoveOn.org supporting the 6 Congressfolks' request and sign on if you're a US citzen.
Even if it doesn't change who takes a nap in the Oval Office this term, it might have consequences for the preservation of democracy in the US for the next election. Stranger things have happened. And it will allow me to do some dissertation work this weekend instead of standing in front of the capitol building all by myself with my little protest sign--kthanx. Thanks to
mererid for the link. For a great collection of links on the election fraud to date see
queerbychoice's entry here.
Addendum: Oh hey, that's where all those lawyers went. I was wondering. Right on schedule.
