Here's some more pics from the scenic tour
hanarobi wonderfully took
shirebound,
mirabile_dictu, and me on to Laramie. All of these pics are still on the Colorado side of the border. Eath and sky are large here.

I don't remember if these are man made or natural cairns.

Can you imagine waiting around here for your school bus?
The tour will continue . . .
This past weekend I went with my LBGT hiking group to a section of the Appalachian Trail in MD. Yes, I think I'm ready for a 7 mile hike with inclines in part. What I was not ready for was it being a rocky path all the way--not that you had to scramble with your hands, but rocks big enough that you had to watch your every step, which for me takes away the fun of enjoying the scenery. Plus my feet were badly hurting by the end. I did take my hiking stick which kept my knee in good shape though. But to make matters worse, yesterday after work I put away my suitcase on the top closet step and misstepped my way down, which left my right foot, just as it was healing a little, pretty excruciating to walk on. It's a little better today, but still messed up, and hurty to walk on, and I'm limping. Meh. I will not be taking walks for an indeterminate while. Ice pads, arch support straps, advil, and extra sleep are my current best friends.
On a good note, Saki has been brighter since I started her on the new med last week. Yay!

I was once invited to scramble up Tryfan, which isn't easy at the best of times, in winter and I honestly couldn't understand why I'd want to spend a whole day concentrating all my attention on my hands and feet while surrounded by such spectacular views. /not one of nature's climbers

Exactly! I have no desire to mountain climb--just give me the views--I don't like walking in nature if I can't stop to admire as I go--the group leader lead us at a pace more suited to me on past hikes, so that made it even harder. There doesn't seem to be a term for walking on irregular rocks--it's not really scrambling if it's not an incline you have to use your hands on. Perhaps if the pace were a little slower, my feet might have fared better from me having more time to choose my steps. I have always envied tree climbing, though--I never was good at that.

You took a pic of the standing stones, whatever they are! So striking against the skyline. Tree and Claudia and I were wondering about them too.

Seven miles with inclines, yikes. Glad you're more or less okay.
Wow, your pics are great. I tried to capture those rock strata and striations, but you really do them justice.

Oh dear! I hope it doesn't take long for your foot to heal.
I'm so glad to hear that Saki is doing better. *pets*

My google-fu has failed in turning up anything.

It was the fast pace over jaggedy rocks that did me in. But I done 7 miles on the Appalachian Trail, so yay for that, at least.
Thank you. My little camera does it's job. *hugs*
