This week's issue of The Onion is one of their best, I think. Don't miss it. Thanks for the heads up [livejournal.com profile] jisms. (-:

You know it's damn funny when you almost giggle remembering that Georgia flag piccie while in the dentist chair--it's true--I did that yesterday. (-: Speaking of which, it (being at the dentist) did really suck and involved yucky pain, but nothing compared to last summer when I had that dentist who was a Fucking Sadist, or Incompetent, or Untrained in Pain Management, or whatever her damned problem was though she seemed very nice but it was most likely a clever front to throw me off, the villain! This appointment, however, was just normal dental pain for getting a tooth drilled in prep for a crown. So, I'm moving up in the world. Whoo!

And to speak of non-sucky occurrences this week, my boss offered me a full time position for at least until October, or 30 hours full time if I want--which I do because writing my diss would be hopeless if I tried for more hours. But that would be enough to meet all my expenses and be able to pay for fixing my car if anything goes wrong, and start saving for a newer used car, so I could stop worrying about my finances. And even start taking some short road trips again if it continues past October. Aaaaaand with that would come . . . ta da! Health Benefits!!! I'm going to be one of the insured again--I haven't had that since I was teaching 3 years ago. Unlike 40 million other Americans, I can go for check-ups and preventative care and all that stuff this summer now. Corruption and resentment at paying taxes is soon to follow--watch on News at 11 Yay!

As importantly, I really needed that vote of confidence. It means I'm not about to get fired any time soon.(-: I've been in a funk the past couple of months which means my concentration has been spotty and I haven't worked as well as I could have, but that seems to be good enough to make them pleased with my work, so that's quite a relief. And it's helping lift me out of the funk so I can start making more progress on the dissertation again--and because, obviously, being in a funk does indeed suck.

OK, portent-thinking-type people: yesterday evening, I saw a lightening bolt flash in front of a rainbow, bisecting it, as I was watching out my window. What portent would you take from that vision? It was indeed nifty cool looking and I'm always grateful for that. And later that evening as the air cooled down to a comfortable velvety quality, I got to gaze at a nigh on full moon decked in brilliant orange. Quite a colorful evening. (-:

And, in other news, pictures of fat cats are always amusing. But one of my cats, most likely in solidarity today with [livejournal.com profile] anneheart's Odin, most unamusingly threw up on the rug this evening, which I still need to clean up, so here I go.

Ah, who can resist the lure of the Big Pawed White Cat, the Honey Paws of Love, the Alpha of My Heart? *points at icon of sleeping, non-vomiting on the sheets Odin*

Awwww, he's so beautiful when he's not vomiting. As is Milli, who I suspect was the culprit, but neither she or Saki is talking. And I'm currently on Saki petting duty.
