Snowdrops are the first of the spring bulbs to come up around here. These pics are from 2 years ago, but the same ones are up and budded right now by the lake. They started to open when it was warmer earlier this week and have since pulled their buds in tighter again. The buds have been out for almost 2 weeks now, just waiting for a chance to open out. If they can hold on through mid-week's possible storm, they should be able to open out by the end of the week.

I'm disgruntled with both accu-weather and the weather channel, which have both predicted partly cloudy to sunny skies every day since Tuesday, and all we've gotten is solid, gloomy cloud cover, and even some totally unpredicted drizzles. At least it's been keeping the more annoying people away from the lake, so only the serious walkers and joggers, who actually smile nice greetings, are out, and I do appreciate that a great deal. That's really helped me make my peace with winter and cloudy days this year.

I'm disgruntled by the weather in general this winter. They are predicting another major snowstorm to hit our area on Tuesday night going into Wednesday. In Michigan we are lucky to get one day of sunlight during the winter. I'm so done with winter.

Those flowers are beautiful. Reminds me of a yellow flower that usually blooms around this time.

More pretties! I'm freezing to death here so it's great to look at your lovely flower photos and pretend that they are growing outside my door.

I can see a whole bank of snowdrops from my window. SPRING! :-)

The weather guys are making me a bit nervous this time. They're always spectacularly off at least once/season, so when they say possibly slight accumulation we might be in for something on Wed.

maybe you should be a little wary because we're supposed to get hammered tonight through Tuesday. Not where I am exactly but just to the north (like I'm talking a county away). Us maybe not as much because we're supposed to be above freezing part of the time. Chicago? Not so much.

It shouldn't be too bad for us on the east side of I-95. I'm more worried about the wind than the snow.

I wanna see some signs of spring here, too! I'm soooo tired of this day after day of gloom and cold. And now we're getting a snowstorm thingie tonight into tomorrow. In March. Last year during my spring break which is, granted, a few more weeks into March, but still March, we had 80-degree temps. I want some of that back!

I kind of prefer the more seasonally appropriate cold, even if it's bringing a storm. Once it passes, things should be more springy.

Yeah, the weather guys have been off almost the entire winter here.

Those snowdrops are lovely. :)

you got flowers! you got a hint that winter is over and warmer weather is approaching! we weren't supposed to get any snow this weekend and yet, i look outside and i see snow. granted, it wasn't a lot, but still.....

maybe i'll make some spring icons to help. :)

What beautiful photos! I wish that I had planted some snowdrops last fall. This is the absolute worst time of year for me. I think I might go mad before we finally get spring here!

This is the hardest time of year--I agree with your Mad Baggins icon.

Nice to see you here! (-:
