FRODO: I'm glad to be here with you, Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things . . .

SAM: *sob*

FRODO: . . . a-about the lembas bit . . . Sam, I still feel awful . . .

SAM: *weep*

FRODO: . . . his pawing meant nothing to me! The anorexic look is so not my thing . . .

SAM: *sniffle*

FRODO: . . . I-I could put a ribbon in my hair, if you'd like?

SAM: . . . . . . (-:

*FADE TO BLACK*


Or a rejected snippet from an earlier draft that could have been, book version:

Frodo pressed Sam's hand. "I am feeling a bit warm, dear Sam, and I do not think it is the molten magma surging about us that makes me feel so."

"Naught much room on this rock, is there, Mr. Frodo. As my old Gaffer would always say, naught much is better than none, so we'll make do, if you take me."

"And glad I am to do so, my dearest hobbit." Frodo's words filled Sam with a great happiness . . . .
