hi, LT! Sorry i didn't answer yesterday.....i was on Catalina for the day. And....whereas things did not go as exactly planned, it was a lovely and very peaceful day. Every bit as peaceful and joyous as your pictures.
In short, it was.....just.....

You are excused for picking a most appropriate and proper place to be taking your birthdayish self for your birthday. I'm sorry it didn't go as planned, but I'm glad there was still the peace and loveliness you need away from your tough workaday life. Avalon on Catalina Island is often a setting in a series of really fun sf/f novels I've been reading by Kage Baker, so I know of that place and am glad you spent time there.

Are ducks a mascot for the LA Ringers that I unconsciously or luckily (or duckily) stumbled upon? I'm trying to suss out your connection to ducks here.

I'm on the last novel of her "Company" series now. They're a terrific send-up of corporate culture and greed, complete with time travel and people made immortal through cyborg technology and programmed to be model employees, as well as a love letter to Shakespearean England (she taught re-enactors how to speak Elizabethan English for a living) and parts of the California coastline and its history. Wonderful characters and wicked fun. Baker lived in Pismo Beach, and died too early of ovarian cancer a couple of years ago.
