Red Maple on the Hill

Just more pics of that red maple. BTW, all these pics are still from one day in October, over a month ago--the leaves are pretty much gone here now.

There's a maple outside my window with some leaves still hanging on but all the other deciduous trees dropped a while back.

The willows seem to be holding onto golden leaves still, but they are the last of the deciduous hold-outs. A lot of deciduous vines and bushes are still green and gold, so patches of forest look like green porcupines with the trees sticking out of the bodies as grey spikes.

When I was growing up, there was a tiny red maple in our front yard. Such lovely tree.

I didn't know that. My favorite of the big trees is the willow oak. There are some grand old ones still in front of my grade school.
