Hey Cat and Dog Lovers--Pet Food Recall

The most complete set of links I've seen so far for the recall of pet foods is here at [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick. The recall is going beyond Menu food products to Iams, Eukanuba, and some Hill's Science Diet and Purina products.

We took the new dog to get a general checkup at the vet today and they said they'd seen three animals affected by the food so far today.

Ugh! Scary.

Congrats on Pilate, btw--and soothing vibes to Tikvah and Itai. (-:

Thanks for the info. How scary!

YW. And yeah.

This is so scary. I'm feeding my cats Fancy Feast wet food and Royal Canin dry food. So far, I haven't had any trouble with either of those brands. I've had trouble with both IAMS and Science Diet foods in the past, and I'll never buy either of those brands again.

Uh-oh--what trouble have you had with Science Diet? I feed mine Fancy Feast and Friskies wet food, but their mainstay that's out all day is Science Diet Hairball Light dry food, so I'd really like to know what you've encountered--my vets always recommend Science Diet. Some of the Science Diet wet food is in on the recall.

My cat Jasper (who has a delicate stomach at the best of times) could not keep down the dry Science Diet at all, and one day I opened a can and it was so putrid that I nearly threw up. A few more cans had specks of hard, blue... *something* in them, so I threw the whole lot out and switched to Fancy Feast wet food. The only 'style' of that brand that my cats will eat is the minced beef or minced turkey. I tried others but they would just lick it a bit but then not eat it.

The IAMS... I think that Jasper had trouble with their dry food, too. I think the pieces were too difficult for him to chew. He has really bad teeth.

I will be sure to stay away from Hill's wet food then.

Mill has bad teeth too--she needs her wet food to be all ground up--the minced and chunky stuff she just licks up the gravy and smallest chunks and leaves the rest.

Luckily mine weren't eating those; thank god.

Love your icon!

Happiest of happy birthdays to you! (I haven't gone to bed yet so it is still the 18th, even though technically it is the 19th.)

The only time I was early in my life was on the day I was born, and I've been making up for it ever since, so late wishes are as much appreciated by me! Thank you, Dawn!(-:

LOL You are very welcome. And I meant also to include a thank you for posting about the pet food recall.
