One of the many reasons I will not be having a Supreme Court confirmation hearing:

Sen. Graham: Where were you on Christmas day?

Ms. Took: Drinking the blood of Christian babies. What do you think Jews do on Christmas, you stupid fucker? Which you would know if you were more aware of all internet tradishuns, instead of, you know, expecting everyone to be practicing yours.

Whut? Why aren't you laughing? Aren't I white enough to make you feel safe? Or would you like to make a shout out to all your white protestant male friends who are being asked to share, and sometimes giving up their seats overrun by the rest of us Others? You know, if you want to share in the quaint Jewish American tradition of eating Chinese food on Christmas, better do it quick before Pan-Asian people working those kitchens are represented on the SC, too, and, you know, you just might have to learn to cook it yourself.

No, we're not going anywhere yet. That he did that isn't surprising. But like seeking_ferret, I am disappointed that Kagan's graceful comeback allows all the media to sweep it under and not one site wants to tackle it head on. Too many Jews have gotten too complacent, and that's bad.

Yes. It's not surprising; it's just that the media brushing it under the table is maddening. I love the multiple assumptions that she was doing deadpan so well. The thing with dead pan is it looks identical to contempt. You can't pin her down that she was shooting him a look of pure loathing anymore than you can pin down that he was Jew baiting, rather than just being culturally clueless. I don't believe he was clueless and I don't believe she was all deadpan. And I know that is how the game is played and she played it beautifully, but fuck that shit.

I apologize for being so flippant (and a little nutso) I was "in a mood".

But now that I've gone to watch the video, I'm really confused. What the hell was that question even about?! He started off with the Christmas Day bomber and then, "No, I was just asking where you were on Christmas Day." What? Is he really that ignorant?

But what REALLY got me were the comments to the vid. What the hell were those people talking about and what did that have to do with contents of the video?! Did they even watch it? How does being a Jew and not celebrating Christmas make her a Communist? or am I missing something?

And for the record, I think she handled it rather well considering the circumstances. I would have called him a racist asshole and walked out.
