Oh, Lavender! What a great post! I loved reading your report and loved your droll, whimsically captioned photos. You have been to the Pine Barrens? Of Eastern Long Island? Heavens! My family lived there, just a few miles from Westhampton Beach and its airport in Coast Guard housing between 1991-96. I fear I thought the Pine Barrens terribly scrubby as woods go, but I appreciated the quiet, and the deer out in the playground and on our porch. :)
