Meandering Along the Cascade Falls Trail, Part 2
I've been getting through this heat wave by living nocturnally and staying in, only going out after sunset to feed the stray kitties (poor things in this heat) and get supplies. So these pics are a reminder of the good green world I hope to return to. (-; Tomorrow for a few days it will only be going up to the lower 90's for a breather (yeah, it's all perspective) and I will venture out into the daylight again. But in the meantime, I will continue to bring you the cool fresh air of this forest stream trail at Patapsco Valley Park.
I'm sorry for being so behind on replying to comments and commenting on entries! I'm still eager to continue the discussions on my LotR EE entries and will be back there. But I want to make sure I get more of this pretty trail to you during this heat wave some of us are experiencing. And hopefully the green is a soothing reminder for my winter-bound friends Down Under.
So here is another pic of one of my favorite things: clear stream running icily beneath lush ferns and moss. Please click on the pic to see it better.

Here's a question for LJ experts: I want to post these pics here at the same size they appear when you click through to the pic on my LJ scrapbook, which is double the size of what I'm posting here, so that you don't have to click through. However, when I do re-size them in the url for the entry, they come out fuzzier in my entry than they are on the scrapbook page you click to, even though the pics are the same size. Do you know how I can fix that so that I can post the pics clearly on my entries at the size they appear when you click through to the scrapbook? The LJ FAQ was no help to me at all. Thanks!
Even without the hobbit dolls along, they still have me taking hobbit doll eye view pics, but hey, I enjoy it more than yoga. (-; You know of what I speak, my fellow doll photographers--we need a yoga club just for our kind of contortions. Anyway, here's further on up along the trail going up over the falls. There's a little bit of mica sheen in these rocks and boulders. I like the green reflected in the stream beyond them.

I love the vine thatched cliff face this little stream has riven. They're around 10 feet high, so no, not just for hobbit dolls. I imagine the land between Amon Hen and the Emyn Muil to be a little like this and the hobbit dolls are advised to bring their elven rope with them when they come here.

As I was sharpening this pic in iphoto I heard some whispered conversation over my shoulder:
"Sam, look at this! There are beautiful mushrooms there."
"Oh, don't that make your mouth water then, Bingo!"
"She just has to take us next time, Sam. And I hope that next time is quite soon."
"Don't worry, Bingo. She will. With the gardeners having done a scouring on the lake's gardens that would make my old Gaffer cry, it won't be long before she's out that way again."
"You're right, of course, Sam. My dear friend, what would I do without you?" *plastic hobbit kisses*

Into the sun-dappled woods. I could feel cool wafting not only from the crevices in the rocks along the stream, but from the trees in this old growth forest. You could practically feel the trees exhale the freshly formed oxygen on your skin here. There were just patches of coolness you'd walk through. If there were angry huorns here, I felt no ill will this day.

Lush moss on an old well-textured tree stump, like a raised fairy ring.

The lowering sun of late afternoon dancing upon the trees, lightly tendering good night kisses while promising a first branch tip return, swift as the night breeze, to her eager beloveds.

The lushest moss upon the trees is from a hobbit doll eye view. And trees full of crevices, home to untold creatures: you can picture centipedes, slugs, and spiders if it pleases you, preciousss, but I'll keep my options open here.

More to follow soon.

When I want to post pics full size, I have to upload them to Photobucket and then copy-paste the html code into my LJ post.

What a beautiful place to hike! I know the hobbits will enjoy it--especially with those mushrooms! :-DDD
